When Young Charlie is first put in the middle of the detectives and her uncle’s suspected crimes, she feels inclined to defend him. Uncle Charlie then gives her a present, the ring, which automatically connects her to his crimes. Young Charlie feels her family is stuck in a rut, and becomes eager to send a telegram to her Uncle Charlie, thinking only he can help excite her monotonous routine. When viewers first meet Young Charlie, she lies hopeless in her bed, similar to how Uncle Charlie is first introduced. Young Charlie strongly feels their minds so identical, they must be twins. Their mysterious and entrancing connection to one another is quite noticeable on screen. ![]() For starters, they share the same name, which immediately gives the viewer insight that they will be linked together some way throughout the narrative. From the beginning of Shadow of a Doubt, it is clear that Uncle Charlie and Young Charlie have a unique uncle and niece relationship. ![]()
